Senior Operations Engineer / Senior Sysadmin
Do you love web app ops management – the bigger the better? Everyone here is a bit like that. Our SaaS web app performance tooling has market growth, quality and value to users. And our next gen infrastructure is absolutely core to our success.
This is much more than a traditional Systems Administrator role. The right candidate probably already thinks of his/her work as “dev-ops”. Sure, good sysadmin capabilities are important. But equally so are supporting applications and writing automation to drive our infrastructure. The right candidate will have a 2.0, SaaS and Agile mindset. And comfort with Ruby on Rails would be fabulous.
Our products (and our many thousands of customers) are dependent on outstanding datacenter operations. You will plan, optimize and continuously improve New Relic’s state-of-the-art infrastructure. With our growth and technical prowess, we can give you meaty work, a product to be proud of, new things to learn, and the freedom to do the job the way only you can do it.
You will need:
· 5+ years doing Linux systems administrator.
· 5+ years of experience supporting operations at an internet business, managing a large number of systems
· A track record of building scalable Internet infrastructure using automation
· Excellent knowledge of and background with programming and shell scripting. Ruby would be a big plus.
· Excellent knowledge of open source management and monitoring tools such as Puppet, Nagios, Cacti, Monit etc.
· Strong knowledge of the Linux operating system, including the likes of DNS, NIS, TCPIP, DHCP, kernel tuning, file systems etc
· Good working knowledge of MYSQL.
· Bachelor’s degree in CS is a plus
