Techie Senior Linux Systems Administrator (Engineering Services)

Evernote is seeking an experienced Linux systems administrator to join the Operations team. Thisperson will be responsible for the Engineering Development & QA systems and services. This includes server platforms, operating systems, storage management, automation, and overall systems management. This person will support a distributed development organization doing multiplatform application development of all Evernote applications.

Responsibilities:

• Involved in all aspects of building and maintaining the Engineering Services infrastructure and services
• Ensure proper security, monitoring, alerting and reporting for the infrastructure
• Help develop and maintain processes, tools, and documentation
• Capacity planning – selecting and deploying new hardware and virtual environments to provide painless growth
• Able to size and scope projects, make and meet commitments
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues

Requirements and Skills:

• Experience with medium- to large-scale Linux production environments, preferably as part of an
• Online service provider environment
• Strong working knowledge of Linux systems and applications including MySQL, Java, Apache
• Tools development experience in scripting and development of systems automation tools (usingshell, Perl, Python, etc.)
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills
• Ability to solve problems quickly and automate processes
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on detailed Linux experience
• Experience managing suites of virtual test and build servers running Windows and MacOS
• Experience operating machines running build and test automation
• Enjoys designing and building out IT infrastructure for a growing organization

Highly Desired:

• Experience with virtualization technologies
• Experience with systems automation (e.g. Puppet/Chef/etc)
• Experience with engineering toolchains
• Experience with mobile devices
• Experience supporting cross-platform application development shops
• Experience supporting distributed development organizations
• Administration experience with Atlassian tools (e.g. JIRA, Confluence)
