Plastic Logic is the industry leader developing new products to present the world’s information based on plastic electronics – a new technology for manufacturing electronics. The company has broad and deep intellectual property that is applicable across many markets. Its initial focus is on delivering industry-leading plastic displays that are flexible, thinner, lighter-weight and highly scalable in size, offering high viewing quality and low power consumption. Plastic Logic plans to enter the market with its first consumer electronics product based on this technology in 2010. Plastic Logic has a research center in Cambridge, England; a state-of-the-art plastic electronics manufacturing factory in Dresden, Germany; and executive management and product development in Mountain View, California.
We are seeking a "hands on" QA Engineer to ensure the quality of WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G related software functionality on Plastic Logic devices. This engineer must be a quality focused individual that has been involved in multiple product development and launch cycles, and exudes enthusiasm for product quality.
Position/Role Mission: The primary responsibility is to develop and execute test plans, test cases and automation. This engineer will also have a role in the setting of and validation against quality metrics for WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G software components running on Plastic Logic products.
Key Responsibilities:
• Work closely with Development, Release and other QA Engineers in your department to design and develop test plans and test cases
• Setup and manage necessary validation environments and labs for wireless technologies
• Report bugs based on test cases and maintain documentation of test results; ensure fast closure/regression of failures; analyze test results and provide reports
• Implement test automation for automatable test cases
• Provide management with test case coverage analysis and defect metrics to substantiate release recommendations
• Work with other members of the team to improve our processes, tools, methodology, effectiveness and efficiency
• Be involved in device and software certification activities
Required Skills, Knowledge and Ability:
• 5+ years of previous experience as a QA Engineer working with development teams in a hardware/software testing environment
• Experience in Black box and Grey box testing. Engineers must be able to understand internals of our products. Previous White box testing experience is a plus.
• Extensive experience in validation of 802.11WiFi software, ideally on embedded devices
• Experience working with and certifying 3G software on consumer devices is a plus
• Experience in validation of Bluetooth software stacks and profiles is a plus
• Experience with complete project life cycle of analysis, design, implementation, testing and regression testing. Successful candidates will have been involved in the end to end release of a product
• Proficiency working in Windows environments – preferably WinCE or WinMobile
• Experience in the embedded consumer device space
• Experience with setup and configuration of hardware and troubleshooting. Successful candidates will have experience working with prototype hardware.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
• Strong interpersonal skills, be able to work both independently and as part of a team and thrive on technical challenges
• Excellent problem solving skills. Must have the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems quickly and efficiently
• Ideal candidate will have previous test automation experience, ideally in the embedded software space
• Excellent written, documentation and verbal communication skills
• Bachelor's degree in CS; related engineering field or equivalent experience
