WeatherBill is looking for a talented and motivated Quantitative Analyst to join our quantitative engineering team to build out our real-time pricing and risk management platform, conduct research on statistical, financial, and meteorological topics to further develop our systems and models, and participate in trading and execution of weather contracts with clients.
You will work to support the sales and business development teams as they develop partner deals and sell weather contracts to clients. You will be responsible for pricing weather contracts, conducting correlation and optimization analyses of clients' financial performance with weather data, and supporting the entire quantitative engineering team in efforts related to the build-out of partner integration efforts.
This role provides a recent grad with great hands-on experience dealing directly with large clients and partners, being directly responsible for the pricing and management of large financial risks, and developing the WeatherBill platform through proprietary research in statistics, finance, and meteorology.
Who You are:
- Recent (<3 years) graduate from a top-tier university with a degree in math, statistics, physical science or related field
- Demonstrated interest or experience in finance, statistics, or meteorology topics
- Laboratory, research, or on-the-job experience with one of the following: Matlab, C++, R, or Java, SAS/STAT
- Strong understanding of probability theory
- Interest in joining a small growing firm that is part hedge fund, part start-up
- Preferred: Exceptional skills in Microsoft Excel
- Preferred: Software engineering experience and training
What You'd Do:
- Design, develop, and deliver new features and systems for our automated weather risk management platform
- Work directly with clients to conduct financial risk analyses, define weather contract pricing terms, and execute (trade) weather contracts with clients and other counter-parties
- Research and develop future pricing algorithms and models, based on proprietary statistical, financial, and meteorological research
