MySQL DBA

Responsibilities:
• Manage production and development MySQL databases for the company.
• Ensure high uptime of the databases and thus the applications which are dependent on them.
• Ensure databases and database services are monitored.
• Ensure there is solid database backup and recovery strategy defined and implemented.
• Help in database configuration optimization and SQL tuning.
• Automate and develop scripts for any Database administration of application management related tasks.
• Learn Marin applications and provide applications support – Investigate into the application issues or failures and develop fixes for them.
• Be the point person for company’s MySQL databases and part of small IT operations team. Work with engineers and customer support teams.
• Be able to carry a pager to provide 24x7 database support in rotation.
Minimum Requirements:
• 2+ years of DBA experience with MySQL databases – versions 5.0 and 5.1.
• Experience with MySQL database management and IT infrastructure monitoring tools such as IBBackup, Nagios etc.
• Experience with other Relational Databases such as Oracle will be a plus.
• Linux – CentOS or RHEL.
• Scripting languages such as Unix Shell, Perl, Python. Familiarity Apache web server will be a plus.
• Previous experience in search advertising (Google/Overture) a big plus.
• Accurate prediction of your own task completion timelines.
• Sense of innate urgency to complete projects on time and with high quality.
• Open communicator and can jump in (if appropriate) to help other team members.
• Educational background in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering preferred.
Compensation:
Salary / options commensurate with experience and very competitive. We prefer full-time hires for this position.
